Outdoor Living Spaces Can Increase the Value of Your Home

Summer is finally here and many homeowners are moving their entertainment outdoors. “Outdoor living” once referred to decks, patio furniture, pools and more. Now the term outdoor living refers to much more and can be broken down into basic elements: food, shelter, fire, water and sound. Depending on the budget, the projects can be simple or extravagant.

Food is the most important element which is why outdoor kitchens should be the first piece added to the space. A recent study released by Weber-Stephen Products Co. says respondents reported they spend 59 percent of their time grilling in their outdoor living space.

Other options for upgrading outdoor spaces are adding an element for shade such a pergola, an outdoor fireplace, a water feature; and even a waterproof television. Whether the budget is big or small there are many ways to make outdoor living more inviting and increase the value of a home.

Honor Those Who Have Served
Memorial Day, May 28th, is a special day to honor those who gave their lives for our country and our freedom. Though it’s a holiday that honors all, for most Americans the ceremonies are a highly personal experience. Casualties of Iraq and Afghanistan are fresh in our memories. The services at cemeteries give a public face to our appreciation of their sacrifices. Click here to visit a list of local celebrations printed by the Salt Lake Tribune.
